Lawn Fertilizing Services
We'll feed your lawn the nutrients it needs for healthy growth

Lawn Fertilizing Is A Key Element In Any Successful Lawn Care Program
The right nutrients, at the right time of year, is what your lawn needs.
Searching For Lawn Fertilizing Companies Near Me?
Ohio's best lawns often have two things in common: professional maintenance and regular fertilization. Professional lawn care companies understand the proper care required to keep a lawn looking its best, and providing the right nutrients through a lawn fertilizing program helps keep your grass healthy, green, and lush.
GroundSmith is a lawn care company based out of Lewis Center, Ohio and serving Delaware County including Dublin, Powell, and Delaware, Ohio. We specialize in lawn fertilizing services as part of our regular lawn maintenance program or as a standalone service for both residential and commercial clients.
We Offer Two Lawn Care Programs To Meet Your Needs
Enhanced TurfSmith Program
By far our most popular, our enhanced program provides you with all the nutrients and feeding of the standard program, with several extras that help take your lawn further.
The key differences include additional weed prevention and control (including our weed control guarantee), along with a grub preventer with surface feeding insect control applied in the summer.
Early Spring (Mar/ April)- Fertilizer w/ Crabgrass Pre-emergent.
This early application allows us to get a head start on preventative weed control. A split application approach will extend the crabgrass control longer into summer.
Mid Spring (May/ Early June)- Spring Broadleaf Weed Control.
This application is focused on knocking out your spring broadleaf weeds including dandelions and clover, along with many other broadleaf weeds that attack your lawn in summer. The timing of this round allows us to tackle a larger variety of weeds, rather than just the early bloomers like dandelions.
Late Spring (May/ June)- Second Application of Crabgrass Control, Fertilizer and Spot Weed Control.
This application extends the crabgrass control effort much further into summer when crabgrass can get difficult under certain weather conditions. Its feeding also helps your lawn prepare for the summer heat.
Mid-Summer (July/ August)- Grub prevention, surface feeding insect control, summer fertilizer, & spot weed control.
This multi-benefit application does several things for your lawn. If helps prevent turf damaging grubs and other root feeding larvae, it fights off surface feeding insects that attack your lawn (it helps with fleas and ticks too), along with providing a summer feeding that helps your lawn endure the summer months.
Early Fall (Late August/ Sept)- Fall Fertilization.
A balanced fertilizer and spot weed control application is key to helping your lawn bounce back from summer stress. Lawns do their most development and improvement in fall. This round helps get that going.
Mid Fall (Sept/ Oct)- Fall Broadleaf Weed Control.
Although the spring weed control gets all the attention, the fall application is actually the star of the show. Summer brings weed seeds that begin to sprout as the weather cools. Knocking them out now is the real secret to a clean lawn in the spring.
Late Fall (Nov/ Dec)- Dormant Fertilization.
The most important application of the year. Lawn roots grow and develop late into the fall. Feeding now both helps with that continued root growth and ensures your lawn has the nutrients in needs to weather the winter and start strong in the spring.
Standard TurfSmith Program
Also known as our “Clean and Green” program, our standard program gives your lawn the essential “feeding” and weed control it needs.
We use the same high quality products we use in Enhanced, just with a different frequency and focus. If you want a healthy, strong lawn but don’t need the extras like grub control or additional pre-emergent treatments then this program can be for you.
Spring (Late Mar/ April)- Fertilizer with Crabgrass Pre-emergent.
This first application gives your lawn a shot of nutrients as the season starts, along with a crabgrass preventer to help control crabgrass and other summer weeds. It also includes a “post emergent” crabgrass control to help catch any seedlings that might have got a head start on summer.
Summer (June)- Sumer Fertilization and Spot Weed Control.
This application of balanced fertilizer helps your lawn prepare for the stresses of summer.

Lawn Fertilizing Services In Powell, Delaware, and Plain City, Ohio
While lawn fertilizing is important to the overall health of your lawn, sometimes there is more corrective action needed to bring your lawn back into a healthy and manageable state. Our regular lawn care programs are comprehensive and tailored to your individual lawn so we can achieve the best results.
In addition to lawn fertilizing we also recommend lawn aeration which helps develop a healthy root system so your grass can benefit from lawn fertilizing. We also recommend overseeding of any areas that are patchy or brown or not growing very well. Simply applying fertilizer to your lawn won't make it magically grow. At GroundSmith we prefer to take a more holistic approach and it shows in the quality of our clients lawns.
After viewing your property and determining the type of grass you have along with the soil conditions, we can come up with a lawn fertilizing plan that will be effective.
What Kind Of Lawn Fertilizing Do You Actually Need?
Like all plants, your lawn thrives on the elements NPK. This stands for Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium. Your grass requires these elements and many other trace elements in varying amounts throughout the year.
Nitrogen is important for leaf and stem growth, as well as the overall health and green color of the grass. Phosphorus helps with root growth and helps the grass to recover from stress, such as drought, disease, or mowing. Potassium helps with overall plant health and disease resistance.
In addition to these primary nutrients, lawns also benefit from secondary nutrients such as calcium, magnesium, and sulfur. These nutrients are typically present in the soil in sufficient quantities, but may need to be supplemented if the soil is deficient.
Fertilizer isn’t just a one time thing either… If you want a healthy looking lawn then it needs to be fed regularly usually in 4-6 week intervals for the best results. There are literally thousands of lawn fertilizing products on the market but there are only a select few that work exceptionally well in Ohio.
We use only the highest quality lawn fertilizers and we are licensed to apply them to your property. We are knowledgeable about the lawn feeding products we use and we’ll be able to come up with a program suitable for your lawn.
